An ambitious bid is being made to land £500,000 for a much-needed facelift for Clacton seafront.

The town's chamber of trade is looking at a number of options to improve the popular attraction for residents and visitors alike.

Among the ideas being considered are new shelters, better lighting, signs and street furniture.

Pierre Oxley, chairman of the chamber, said he anticipated putting in an application to the national lottery in the next couple of months.

He hoped traders, organisations and Tendring Council would support the initiative.
