An elderly driver has died after his car veered off the road and collided with another car in a busy town centre.

Witnesses to the lunchtime accident in Clacton said the man was clutching his chest. Two members of the public and a police officer who fought to try and save him were today praised.

The two women went to the man's aid and started to try and revive him while he was in the car.
