A judge has told a man caught with thousands of child porn pictures not to return to his home - which overlooks a school.

Nicholas Dinnen - police found more than 18,000 pictures of children on his computer. 40810-2

Police found more than 18,000 pictures of children, aged between six and eight, when they raided Nicholas Dinnen's house in Crushton Place, Chelmsford, last summer.

His house overlooks fields at the Melbourne Park Junior and Nursey school.

Chelmsford Crown Court heard how 31-year-old Dinnen has put the house on the market and is currently living elsewhere.

He has also spent thousands of pounds on a "demanding programme" of counselling to curb his interest in pornography.

Dinnen was given a three-year rehabilitation order after he admitted charges of possessing indecent images of children.

He was also told to take part in a sex offenders programme run by the probation service and pay £155 costs.

Dinnen, who works as an illustrator, ran downstairs from court and made no comment after the case.

John Donnelly, mitigating, said there was no question of Dinnen grooming children for the pictures or any distribution of the images.

Dinnen was put on the sex offenders register for five years.
