A 28-year-old lorry driver was due in court today after a crash in which a van driver died.

The French national was arrested after Michael Motley, 54, of Boleyns Avenue, Braintree, died in a crash on the A120 at Little Tey on Monday.

He was due before Colchester magistrates today charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

Tributes were today paid to Mr Motley, a greyhound-racing fan who died when his Sainsbury's delivery van was involved in a collision with a French-registered HGV.

He is remembered by his wife Jean and his step-children and grandchildren. In a statement, the family said: "We are sure Michael has met and touched a lot of different people over the years and we know he will be very sadly missed."

Witnesses to the crash at about 2pm on Monday are asked to call Stanway Road Policing Unit on 01206 762512
