There was a surprise in store at the final performance of Dick Whittington in Maldon.
The Maldon Pantomime Society's 12th annual production was drawing to a clos when Maldon MP John Whittingdale made a shock appearance on stage as Alderman Fitzwarren.
Director, Chris Patching, said: "He really got into his cameo role, and said he thoroughly enjoyed himself."
Profits from the six performances of Dick Whittington at Maldon Town Hall will be distributed to local charities later this year.
