A Nurse who avoided jail after he beat his girlfriend's head against a bathroom wall has been struck off the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) register.
Mark Townsend, 37, formerly of Edith Road, Southend, attacked his lover at her home in the town after they returned from a christening.
The NMC heard the woman, who was not named, did not initially report the attack which left her with cuts, bruises, two black eyes and a suspected broken arm.
But she contacted police after Townsend left threats he would "break every bone in her body" on her answerphone. He was later convicted of assault and given community service.
The hearing yesterday, which Townsend did not attend, found him guilty of misconduct for the attack.
Chairwoman Nancy Kirkland said: "His conduct was such he prejudiced the reputation of the profession and there has been no other information to enable it to conclude other than he should be removed from the register."
