A blunder over the date of a council meeting has stalled the multi-million pound regeneration of a run-down corner of Colchester.

The St Botolph's regeneration masterplan had won the final go-ahead at a meeting earlier this month, paving the way for planning applications for various parts of the scheme.

It will see a contemporary art gallery, new bus station, retail development, magistrates' court and housing.

But town MP Bob Russell heard that the date for the meeting, on June 9, had been listed incorrectly on a poster outside the town hall as June 6.

He wrote to Colchester Council's chief executive, Adrian Pritchard, and it has now been agreed to reconvene the local development framework panel.

People who spoke at the last meeting will have a chance to repeat their concerns, and other members of the public will also be entitled to comment.

Andrew Weavers, Colchester Council's monitoring officer, said: "Due to an administrative error, a poster was put up giving notice of the meeting with the wrong date. We apologise for this mistake.
