Phil Parkinson is looking for just two more players to fill his ranks ahead of the start of the new season.

The Colchester United supremo is not being forced to dramatically bolster his squad after the Football League backtracked on proposed changes to the transfer system.

Parkinson had feared that he would not be able to bring in loan players outside of the set transfer windows.

However, the U's boss said: "The situation has changed.

"At the end of last season the rest of the Football League managers and I were expecting to have to deal with the same situation that the Premiership operates under.

"You would only be able to buy, sell and loan players in the transfer window. However, that has changed and as a result I'm able to rethink some things."

Parkinson and the rest of the managers in the League would have been scrambling around in a bid to secure players ahead of the window closing at the end of August.

He said: "There was the notion that all squads would have to include 24 or 25 players to cope.

"However, now I have got an aim to have a 20-man squad at the start of the campaign. I will be able to bring in loan players when needs must now and that is a lot better than what we were facing.
