Customers who paid cash for orders with a Rayleigh furniture business will not get a penny after the company went bust.

A creditors meeting held by liquidators Berg, Kaprow and Lewis in London officially wound up Furniture Designs Limited, in Websters Way.

The company angered customers by not telling them they were in difficulties, even though many continually contacted the business in an attempt to get their products.

Gwyn Young, of Bellhouse Road, Eastwood, has been left with an empty dining room in her family home.

Mrs Young paid a £550 deposit for a G Plan dining table and chairs worth £1,700 at the start of May and had no idea the company was in trouble.

She only began to get suspicious when she was contacted several times saying they could not make the delivery date.

She has paid by credit card and can recover the money through her card.
