AVELEY fans can expect a number of new faces in their side next season as boss, Amin Levitt, looks to build on their mid-table finish last time out.

Although no signings have yet been confirmed, Levitt is working hard behind the scenes to freshen up his squad and hopes to tie up his first transfers of the summer by the weekend.

He said: "It is a bit quiet at the moment.

"It will all get going again two or three weeks before the start of the season. "We are looking to bring in a couple of strikers and midfield players.

"Plus we hope to get a few players from another club and are quite close to deals for one of two of them, but nothing is finalised yet."

Meanwhile Levitt anounced that he expects this season's top scorer, Jermain Hughes, to join Waltham Forest, after falling out of favour at Millfield and confirmed that goalkeeper Michael Collier has joined Hornchurch.

Levitt said: "To be honest Hughes wouldn't have started for us next season anyway and now we've got Marc Palmer back to full fitness, Collier wouldn't have figured either."

Aveley have been drawn at home to Potters Bar in the first round of next season's Southern League Cup during the week beginning September 19.

* After an absence of more than 70 years Tilbury have re-joined the Kent Football League, with their reserves taking up a position in divison two.

A reserve team manager/coach is required who will work under the direction of the first team management of Tony Cross, Danny Gallagher and Dave Hill.

Anyone interested in applying for the position should contact club secretary Mark Southgate on 07979 525117.
