Fuming Halstead skipper Phil Toogood has warned his under-performing players to sort themselves out - or face relegation from the Two Counties top flight.

Toogood says he has been having sleepless nights since his side's derby match with Sudbury turned into a horror show.

Toogood (76 not out) and Matt Spatcher (108) had guided Halstead to a decent score of 267 for seven in their division one encounter.

When Sudbury slumped to 77 for five, Halstead were on course to register a memorable win over the reigning champions.

However, Nathan Mayling struck an unbeaten century to lead the Suffolk men to a improbable victory in the last over.

Toogood said: "It may have been a great game to watch for the neutral spectator, but from a losing captain's point of view, it was shocking.

"We choked - it's as simple as that, and when it happens against in the big local derby, it's even harder to take."
