I assume the report in the Gazette (February 23) headlined “Have your say on how £100k should be spent”, was a wind-up, to motivate local opinion to react to the cabinet member for localism and planning, with respect to, the £100k grant for Walton.

It beggars belief that time, meetings and venues, voting papers and website are being used to come to the conclusion, that is blindingly obvious.

The three options for the money include Walton Sea Cadets, trails across Walton and Walton and Frinton Yacht Club to develop its facilities.

The sea cadets prove weekly what the children of the area can achieve.

Trails across Walton?

The seafront and backwater paths are already secured.

Walton and Frinton Yacht Club, to my knowledge, is a private club. Of course, the club supports the RNLI and, due to Frinton being used in its name, is quite successful in its support of the RNLI.

I assume once the Walton Mere is developed, the area of the yacht club will become as successful as Titchmarsh Marina, located just up the backwaters.

I suggest enough money has been wasted on this grand scheme and, without further ado, invest in the children of the area, and let the old boys of the council, forum etc, attend the opening ceremony for the photoshoots.
