A MAN has been jailed for an unprovoked attack on two teenage boys.

Luke Comer punched the 16-year-olds at a bus stop, Colchester Magistrates’ Court heard.

The 20-year-old, of St Botolph’s Street, Colchester, admitted two charges of assault by beating.

Sharon Hall, prosecuting, said the victims, who magistrates ordered could not be identified, were waiting for a bus in Timber Hill, Colchester, when Comer and a friend, who has not been charged, approached them.

Comer’s friend punched one of the boys in the face before Comer punched the other on the nose.

Mrs Hall added: “It caused it to bleed and then the two men ran away.”

Mrs Hall said Comer had numerous convictions for assault in 2008, including actual bodily harm that resulted in an eight-month sentence at a young offenders’ institute.

The court heard Comer had made full admissions when interviewed by police, telling them he had been “tanked up” on alcohol.

Elizabeth Bradshaw, mitigating, said Comer had sorted himself since 2008 and was settling down with his pregnant girlfriend.

Magistrates said the nature of the attack and his previous record left them no choice but to jail him for four months.
