A MAN has claimed he was lured into a trap by robbers who left him seriously injured.

Richard Bailey, of Harrow Road, Clacton, said he was attacked by about ten men and women after a night out.

He said the group had invited him to a party and tricked him into walking across the deserted playing field on Knox Road, Clacton, at 3am on Friday, January 15.

They then robbed him of his mobile phone, cash, keys and reading glasses.

Mr Bailey, 33, was left with a fractured nose, three chipped teeth and bruising to his eye, cheek and ribs after the incident.

He said: “I was walking along and a girl in the group befriended me and made it clear she wanted me to come back with them.

“They led me onto the Knox playing field. One minute I was standing and the next I was on the floor. They just kept kicking me.

“It felt like hours, but I suppose it was a couple of minutes. I just remember trying to get up. I was saying, ‘please stop, no more’.”

He said the group then ran off, leaving him alone.

Mr Bailey said he believed the attack was related to an earlier altercation at a bar and the robbery had been planned.

He is still recovering from his injuries and no longer feels comfortable going out on his own at night.

Police are appealing for anyone who has information about the robbery.
