PUPILS and staff have celebrated the opening of a £1.2million arts building.
St Benedict’s College’s new creative and performing arts faculty was opened by MP Bob Russell.
The Colchester school’s new building took two years to plan and a further year to build and features a drama studio, music technology classroom, four new practice rooms, changing rooms and storage areas.
John O’ Hara, headteacher, said: “The new facilities are absolutely fantastic and enable us to provide opportunities for the students to develop their creative talent in modern, purpose-built accommodation.”
After cutting the ribbon, Mr Russell said: “It’s an incredible addition to an already excellent teaching establishment.
“St Benedict’s has been transformed in the past decade and I know this building will enhance the college’s reputation further.
“I was honoured to be there.”
