A MAN on the sex offenders register is wanted by police after failing to show up in court.

Jason Parker was convicted of a sexual offence and put on the register in 1996.

One of the conditions of his sentence was that he must sign the register every year.

The 38-year-old, of Stanley Road, Clacton, was arrested by police in November after he failed to complete his registration.

Parker was due to appear at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on December 10, but did not show up.

A sick note was shown to the bench explaining why he had failed to appear in court, but they refused to withdraw an arrest warrant.

To compound matters, the dad-of-two failed to appear at a second court hearing on January 11.

It is believed there was a lack of communication between the court service and the police, which led to officers believing the original sick note had been accepted by the court and the arrest warrant had been rescinded.

He has still not been arrested.

Parker is believed to have been aware of the court dates.

It is not the first time he has appeared before the court for failing to abide by the Sexual Offences Act.

In September 2007, he admitted failing to inform police he had changed address after fleeing to a caravan park at Walton following threats of violence.

Bill Stock, a spokesman for Essex Police, said: “Essex Police has been made aware of the review of the warrant and officers will be seeking to make an arrest as soon as possible.”
