Your article on the league tables regarding complaints against surgeries (Gazette, November 12) does not tell the whole story and can be very misleading.

I have listed some of the things you have missed out in your report.

1. If you take just one of the practices, East Lynne, for example, to have five complaints out of a patient list of 10,678 can in no way be deemed as failing.

You do not say if the complaints where medical or non-medical. As someone who carries out patient survey audits, I can assure you that East Lynne has not had one complaint based on the medical treatment of patients in the last three years.

2. The investment in the last five years via the Quality Outcome Framework programe has enabled most of the surgeries in the Tendring area to employ extra staff, including highly-qualified nurse practioners and lifestyle nurses, so to say that Tendring is the poor relation is not correct.

3. Every patient in the Tendring area now gets a six-month review of their condition and the medicine they receive is also looked at to make sure they are receiving the correct treatment, so to say that we are the poor relatives is wrong.

For Mr Beare to make the statements he has made is out of order and, instead of undermining the good work the staff do at all our surgeries, he should be thankful he lives in the Tendring area
