CINDERELLA left her ugly sisters at home to help sell charity Christmas cards.

The star of the Mercury Theatre’s production made a rare appearance at the Colchester Library.

The heroine was helping to promote Colchester Cards for Good Causes, which sells thousands of Christmas Cards to help more than 40 local charities every year.

The cards are being sold at the Library until December 22. Mary Cronin, charity co-ordinator, said: “Everyone buys Christmas cards, so this is a great way of making sure you help a charity as well.

“It is a great way for charities to get some much-needed cash and people can choose which charity they want to support.”

Cinderella will be at the Mercury Theatre Colchester from December 4
