BOSSES at fast-food restaurant McDonald’s have splashed out nearly £500,000 on a refit of a Colchester branch.

The restaurant, in Cowdray Avenue, now has plush leather seats and improved wheelchair access.

Boss Cas Morehen said he hoped the upgrade would encourage customers to linger over tea or coffee, as well as to eat.

He said: “It will make such a difference to our customers. The restaurant has been levelled, in order to give much better access for families with buggies or visitors in wheelchairs.

“The seating is much more comfortable and stylish, plus we have additional seating outside so customers can enjoy sunnier days.”

The restaurant has returned to normal opening hours after the refurbishment.
