A TASTE of France came to Wivenhoe when the town held a big fundraising flea market.

Stalls were set up outside 44 homes around the town and also in the Station pub’s car park, with bric-a-brac, collectables and antiques offered for sale.

Hundreds of visitors paid £1 for a map showing where the stalls were, money which goes directly to Wivenhoe’s Royal British Legion branch.

The total amount raised has yet to be finalised, but Nigel Stratton, of the Corner House coffee shop, who came up with the idea, said the day had been fantastic.

He added: “The weather has been great and it went really well.”

Mr Stratton came up with the idea, after visiting a similar market in Lille, France.
