HOLY charity Batman! The caped crusader and Robin swapped their Batmobile for a bus as part of a drive to raise money for the BBC’s Children in Need telethon appeal.

Bus passengers in Colchester found themselves being driven around by a motley crew of superheroes, villains and kids’ favourites including Toy Story’s Woody, Popeye, Brutus and even Father Christmas. Nine Network Colchester bus drivers took part in the fancy dress event.

Jaydee Fermore, who was driving the Monkwick to Highwood route dressed as 101 Dalmations villainess Cruella de Vil, said: “So far, it’s been pretty good.

“We’re getting a lot of funny looks from other road users, though!”

This is the second year the firm’s drivers have dressed up for Children in Need.

Last year, three drivers raised £650, a feat which encouraged the company to donate a similar amount to match.

Ms Fermore said: “People were asking us beforehand if we were going to do it again this year. There’s nine of us this time, so we’re hoping we will do a bit better than last year.”
