BRADWELL could be revealed as a site for a new nuclear power station on Monday.
The Government’s National Policy Statement on nuclear energy will be published and a decision about the fate of land next to the existing power station, which is currently being decommissioned, will be included in it.
Local protest group, BANNG (Blackwater Against New Nuclear Group) is preparing itself for Bradwell to be given the thumbs up, but has warned of the negative affects it could have on the surrounding areas.
Varrie Blowers, secretary, said: “It is important local communities should understand that it is not only a new and mega nuclear power station that would be proposed for Bradwell but also, and extremely worryingly, a highly radioactive spent fuel store.”
