ESSEX’S A12 is at the centrepiece of a new drama starting on ITV on Monday.
Collision follows the lives of a group of people who had never met, but all share a devastating moment on the A12 that will change their lives.
Douglas Henshall, Kate Ashfield, Paul McGann and Phil Davis all feature in the five-part drama, which was created by Anthony Horowitz.
Mr Horowitz travels along the road between London and Orford, Suffolk. He said: “I’ve always been interested in car accidents.
“In a sense, every car journey is a story and a car crash is, by its very nature, an extraordinary, unprecedented way for many stories to come together.”
Phil Davis, who plays Brian Edwards, is also a regular on the road. He said: “I drive on the A12 all the time, which is where some of this was filmed, because my 12-year-old son lives in Suffolk with his mum.
“My heart beats faster every time I go on that road, after making this drama. It has been terrifying for me.”
