MEMORIAL services are taking place across our region on Sunday for the traditional Remembrance tributes, and on Wednesday, to mark Armistice Day.

COLCHESTER: Sunday, parade from town hall at 10.35am to the war memorial outside Colchester Castle, for 11am service. Wednesday, silence held at 11am outside the town hall.

WIVENHOE: Sunday, service at the Congregational Church, High Street, at 2.30pm, followed by parade to the war memorial.

TIPTREE: Sunday, meet at war memorial at 2.45pm for parade to United Reformed Church for 3pm service.

CLACTON: Sunday, parade from town hall to the war memorial on the seafront, for 11am service. Wednesday, silence on Christmas Tree Island at 11am.

HARWICH AND DOVERCOURT: Sunday, 10.15am, service at war memorial on quay, followed by parade to town war memorial at the end of Fronks Road, Harwich, for a two-minute silence at 11am. In the afternoon, parade from Royal British Legion, in Barrack Lane, Dovercourt, to St Nicholas’ Church, Harwich, for a 3pm service. Wednesday, 11am, short service at town war memorial.

LAWFORD: Sunday, ceremony and wreath laying at the war memorial, in Wignall Street, at 10.30am, followed by service, in St Mary’s Church, at 10.50am.

MANNINGTREE: Sunday, service at the Methodist Church, 10.15am. Wednesday, service at war memorial, in the High Street, 11am.

HALSTEAD: Sunday, 2pm, wreath laying at Holy Trinity Church, followed by short ceremony in public gardens at the war memorial, parade up High Street to First World War memorial for wreath laying ceremony, followed by service at St Andrew’s Church.

COGGESHALL: Sunday, 10.45am service led by the Bishop of Colchester, followed by Act of Remembrance at the war memorial.

BRAINTREE: Sunday, wreath laying at Braintree and Bocking public gardens, at 2pm, followed by procession to St Michael’s Church, St Micheal’s Lane, for service at 3pm.

WITHAM: Sunday, 2.30pm, parade starts at the junction of The Avenue and Collingwood Road, at the top of the roads where they meet, to the war memorial, in Newland Street.

MALDON: Sunday, ceremony at the war memorial, outside All Saints’ Church, High Street, from 10.40am, followed by service at the United Reformed Church, Market Hill.

HEYBRIDGE: Sunday, ceremony at the cemetery, in Goldhanger Road. Meet by the chapel at 10.45am for a 10.50am service.
