I am very pleased that the review by Sir Thomas Legg has resulted in Tory MP Bernard Jenkin being asked to return over £60,000 he claimed for renting his sister-in-law’s house, which is situated over 60 miles outside London.

This money is taxpayers’ money and belongs to us!

Whether Bernard Jenkin believes the system was broken or not, it doesn’t seem to show a modicum of common sense when it comes to him judging what is right or wrong.

Anyone can see this claim was unacceptable – particularly as this second home was nowhere near London.

I also wonder what wannabe MP for Colchester, Tory Will Quince, thinks about this.

He has made sniping comments about other expense claims and yet, despite me asking him directly via his postbag, he appears to suddenly have no opinion on Mr Jenkin.

Again, I wonder if Mr Quince will join the public condemnation concerning this claim – or will he stay silent, as this happens to be one of his fellow Tories, who have by far been the worst party who have milked the system dry.
