A COLCHESTER college raised £192 by swapping red and blue for pink.

Staff and students at Colchester Institute donned pink attire instead of their usual colours to raise cash for the Breast Cancer Campaign’s “wear it pink” day.

Rebecca Herrett, from the college, said: ‘‘We’re really proud to be able to donate this amount of money to such an important charity.”

Those who looked pretty in pink won prizes, including dinner for two at the Lemon Tree restaurant, in St John’s Street, Colchester.

In Braintree, a popstar lookalike helped to raise cash for the Breast Cancer Campaign.

Oak Jeans, at Freeport shopping village, invited Stephanie Poulter, an actress and dead ringer for American pop rocker Pink, to swap pink balloons and sweets for donations to help fight cancer. She raised £36.50 in two hours.

Scott Rogers, owner of Oak Jeans, said: “It’s nice to do our bit for the Breast Cancer Campaign, and it was fun having Stephanie on board for the day.”
