INDIAN classical vocalist Swati Natekar will enchant audiences with a special concert tomorrow.
Swati will tell the story of a girl’s journey from being born into a traditional classical musical family in a sleepy Indian town, to the commercial Bollywood razzmatazz of Mumbai and the international music scene of London.
In Raga2 Destiny Chakra – A Passage to India, audiences will be swept away with Swati’s voice and music, which switches styles, fusing traditional Indian and Western sounds.
With her talented team of ten musicians, Swati will also perform tracks from her latest album, Destiny Chakra.
The daughter of renowned Hindu classical academic and scholar, Dr Sushila Pohankar, Swati has been learning and fine-tuning her craft from a very early age.
She has worked with a wide range of art-ists, including Nitin Sawhney, Talvin Singh, Craig Armstrong, Kikki Dee and James Asher.
Tickets for the show, at the Cramphorn Theatre, Chelmsford, cost £12, £10 for concessions, and are available by calling the box office, on 01245 606505.
The show begins at 8pm.
