A SPECIAL meeting of a parish council has been called to discuss plans to transform village land into football pitches.
Little Oakley Memorial Club submitted a planning application to Tendring Council last month, to turn a horse paddock, on Lodge Road, into pitches.
But, after complaints were received from residents about the club’s proposals, Little Oakley Parish Council is to hold a meeting with club officials and members of the public.
Valerie Wrycraft, chair of the parish council, said: “The application was submitted after our last meeting, and our comments have to be in to Tendring Council quite quickly, so we couldn’t wait for the next scheduled meeting.
“There have been complaints, so the people from the club are coming to explain what they want to do. The public will be given the chance to say what their grievances are.
“It just seems a case of not in my back garden.”
The public meeting is being held at 7pm tonight at the Millennium Room, at St Michael’s Church, Ramsey.
