TWO men whose mum was seriously injured in a road crash have thanked wellwishers for being a “tower of strength”.

Lyn Salter, 56, remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital, after she was hit by a car, in Gosfield, on September 22.

Two cars collided before one careered into Mrs Salter, in Church Road, near the Highgates junction.

Mrs Salter, from Edmund Green, was airlifted to the Royal London Hospital, where she is expected to remain for several weeks.

In a joint statement, her sons, David Salter, 28, from Brentwood, and Steven Salter, 34, from Halstead, said: “There is still a long way to go, but mum is making good progress.

“She is up, talking, and hoping to be transferred to a local hospital in the next couple of weeks.

“We would like to thank the local residents and many wellwishers who have shown so much concern for her.

“Their messages of support have been a tower of strength for mum, her partner and all of us.”

The brothers also thanked Essex Police and hospital staff for their help.

l A 26-year-old man, from Halstead, and a 23-year-old man, from Braintree, are on police bail until November 30, after they were arrested in connection with the crash.
