A TEENAGER has been making friends in high places.

Jack Rivers, 16, met Prime Minister Gordon Brown at the Labour Party Conference, in Brighton, this week.

Jack, of Wickham St Paul, had a call from the premier’s office when he was at Hedingham School, personally asking him to attend.

The politically aware teenager is being courted by all the political parties.

He went to the Liberal Democrat conference, in Bournemouth, and is planning a trip to the Conservatives’ event, in Manchester.

Jack talked to Chancellor Alistair Darling, schools minister Ed Balls, Secretary of State for climate change Ed Miliband, and Home Secretary Alan Johnson, when he was there on Monday.

He said: “It was really good. It was quite scary to be honest.

“I also went in the main conference and watched Alistair Darling’s speech.”

Jack was then interviewed by the BBC about his political views, which include wanting to reduce the voting age to 16, and abolish university tuition fees.
