A VILLAGE is set to get its first farmers’ market.

Cindy Rowland is organising the event in Lawford, where she has a 5,000 sq ft greenhouse at her Poppy Farm home, in Harwich Road.

She is appealing for stall holders to come forward for the market at Lawford’s Venture Centre.

Mrs Rowland, 54, manager of Jaywick’s Martello Tower, said: “I hope to develop a market where local growers and local people can bring their produce or things they have made, and be bought by local people.

“It is about keeping things in the local community rather than travelling miles and miles to get produce.”

Mrs Rowland is appealing for anyone with produce grown locally to take part in the market on September 27, between 11am and 3pm.
