FORTY pooches have already signed up for the charity coastal stroll along Clacton’s seafront next month.

They are leading the way for the 11th Headway Essex Coastal Dogathon on Sunday, October 4.

The four-legged friends and their owners start their two-mile stroll from the greensward opposite Hazelmere car park, in Holland-on-Sea, at 10.30am, and walk to the pier and back.

Joining the walk this year is a team of beautiful Newfoundlands, who are looking forward to meeting lots of canine chums.

Every dog that takes part will receive a doggy treat and a personalised colour certificate of thanks. The dogs that raise the most sponsorship money will receive prizes.

As an extra bit of fun at the end of the walk the pooches can join in a dog show with a chance to win prizes and rosettes. There will also be an opportunity to meet the sponsors and see the Snoopies Grooming Salon Scally Rally customised car.

Headway fundraising officer Mary Beverley said: “Enjoy the fresh air of an October Sunday morning stroll along Clacton seafront and, at the same time, raise money for Headway, the only local charity caring for those living with a brain injury and their families.”
