THE voice of Dr Hook is back on the road and coming to north Essex on Saturday.

Dennis Locorriere, considered one of the last great undimmed American heroes, was the lead singer of Dr Hook, one of the biggest bands across the world in the Seventies and Eighties.

Locorriere’s voice is instantly recognised the world over. He sang every major hit the group had and was the only member of the band who featured on every Dr Hook recording.

The group had massive world-wide success with classics like Sylvia’s Mother, When You’re in Love With a Beautiful Woman, A Little Bit More and amassed more than 60 gold and platinum records, scoring No 1 hits in more than 42 countries, They spent 300 days a year on the road for 15 years and clocked up another milestone record last year when Dennis’s concept, the Hits and History CD released to accompany his successful Hits and History tour, went gGold in the UK with sales of over 100,000.

But Dr Hook really is only the early part of Dennis Locorriere’s story.

He has played at festivals, including twice at Glastonbury, and at London’s famous Roundhouse and also appeared in a major movie with Dustin Hoffman.

He starred at New York City’s Lincoln Centre in a universally acclaimed one man play, The Devil And Billy Markham, and he has written songs that have been recorded by Bob Dylan, Crystal Gayle, Olivia Newton-John, Helen Reddy and Willie Nelson. Dennis will tour the UK this year and will be at the West Cliff Theatre, Tower Road, Clacton, on Saturday at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £18.50 with £2 off for concessions.
