A TEENAGER was beaten unconscious by a mob of 15 youths.

Sean Carter, 14, had to be revived by paramedic staff after the attack.

The autistic youngster has been left with severe facial injuries and stamp marks on his back.

His father, Ron Carter, claimed the assault was the work of an organised youth gang operating in the west Clacton.

He said the beating took place after Sean got into a row with another teenager who called friends on his mobile phone to join in the attack.

About 15 youths gathered at the Pudney Woods playing field, off St Johns Road, Clacton, and punched and kicked Sean unconscious.

Mr Carter said: “He was set upon by a group of boys aged eight up to 16.

“It was a gang, it was not just one against one. There appears to be quite a bit of it in Clacton.”

He said Sean had told him the attackers called themselves YCM or Youth Maniacs.

Mr Carter, of Flatford Drive, Clacton, said: “He has taken a terrible beating.

“He does not look like a young boy – his eyes are half closed and he has bruises on his eyes and back. You can see where he has been kicked and jumped on.

“He is literally frightened to leave the house.”

Mr Carter no longer wants to send Sean to school because he is too afraid. He hopes to move out of the area.

He said Sean had been tormented by his peers, who took advantage of his autism ever since he moved into a new class at the town’s Bishops Park College in September.

Stephen Mayzes, Rush Green ward councillor, said he was not aware of any youth gangs in the area.

He added: “It (the attack) is of great concern and I will be liaising with the police on this to try to get further details.”

Investigating officer PC Emma Beynon said: “This was a really horrible and unprovoked attack.

“We would ask anyone who was in the area at the time of the attack to think back and get in touch if they can remember seeing anything.”

Witnesses to the attack at about 4.30 on Tuesday should call PC Beynon on 0300 3334444 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

n Five boys, aged between 11 and 14, have been arrested and bailed without charge.
