A ROMAN from the Colchester and Ipswich Museum Service helped Lord Seb Coe to launch an Olympic event.

Alison Naylor was in London’s Trafalgar Square to promote events at the London 2012 Open Weekend, from July 24 to 26.

As part of the event, the museum service will be hosting a knight school, where visitors can take part in battle practice and learn about chivalry.

It will take place at the Christchurch Mansion in Soane Street, Ipswich.

Paul Smith, the councillor responsible for culture and diversity at Colchester Council, said: “It’s great the museum service is getting involved.

“It’s all about developing culture in the place where people live and work.”

The knight school will be open from July 20 to 24, with three 90-minute sessions each day.
