TWO brothers will be cycling from London to Paris for charity.

Matt Ronalds, 17, and Chris, 20, plan to complete the 476-mile route in just four days.

The pair from Nelson Road, Colchester, will leave on July 21, and hope to arrive at the French capital just ahead of the Tour de France.

Chris said: “We will be cycling 120 kilometres a day. It is a fair distance. We wanted to make it a bit more challenging, so we will be taking tents and sleeping bags and we will just stop by the side of the road.”

The brothers will use the money raised to sponsor UNICEF, Cancer Research and the Cyctic Fibrosis Trust.

They picked those charities because the pair knew friends and family members who had suffered from cancer and cystic fibrosis, and they also wanted to contribute to clean water in Africa, which Chris said will kill 20,000 in the time it takes to complete their trip.

They are both training hard, getting in as much time on their bikes as possible in between Matt’s studies at Philip Morant College, and Chris’ work as a piano teacher.

Chris said: “We have not done anything close to that distance, which makes it even more of a challenge.”
