BRAINTREE will be really rocking this Saturday, as a popular band plays at more than 20 pubs in one night.

Five-piece Missing Andy are taking on the ambitious task of 24 performances at their Pub Jam event, which they’ve organised in aid of Essex Air Ambulance.

The punk/pop/rock band who are all Braintree-based, have been together for about two years and are now regularly gigging in London.

Their last outing was at 93FT East, in Brick Lane, London, when they took three coach loads of fans from Essex.

The band is made up of Rob Jones on bass, Steve Rolls on guitar, Alex Greaves, lead singer, Elliot Richardson on drums, and keyboard player Peter Brooker.

Peter said: “Steve, Rob and Elliot went to Braintree College together, and they were looking for a keyboard player when I met them in a pub one night in Braintree.

“We were playing pool and ended up getting a bit drunk.

“It was only a friend of mine who reminded me the next day that I had an audition with the band.”

Pub Jam kicks off at noon at the Orange Tree pub, in Cressing Road, Braintree.

The band will play a few tracks at every pub, spending 30 minutes at each stop, and finishing up at Chicago’s, at Freeport at midnight.

In between the start and the finish, a host of pubs in Braintree will be visited and pretty much every pub in the town centre will welcome the band.

“Hopefully, a lot of people will come out and help us raise as much as possible for the air ambulance,” Peter said.

“This sort of thing has been done before, for example, the Camden Crawl, but it might be a first for Braintree.”
