Bear Grylls is a former SAS reservist, who climbed Everest at the age of 23 and is known for his appearances in in Channel 4’s Born Survivor programme.
He is taking over as Chief Scout next month, replacing former Blue Peter presenter Peter Duncan.
Building work at the school, in Westfield Drive, Coggeshall, is sue to start later this year and finish in July 2010.
Group Scout leader David Hewitt said: “It would be fantastic if Bear could come.
“He is already a real hero to the Scouts and to meet him face to face would be incredible for the all the young people we serve.”
The Scouts, Guides and the school have raised most of the money they need, but a final fundraising push will start at the Scout and Guide parents’ evening next Wednesday.
It starts at 8pm at the current headquarters, in Windmill Fields, Coggeshall.
