A YOUNG biker, who suffered serious injuries in a road accident, is “stable and getting on well”, according to his father.

Barry Deal’s son Innes, 17, came off his bike in Halstead on Monday.

Innes, of Beazley End, was out on his Senda 125cc, getting pizza with a friend, when he collided with a Vauxhall Astra just before 4pm.

He was treated by paramedics for a fractured leg and bleeding between his brain and skull.

But Mr Deal, who also has a daughter, said his son was now off the critical list at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, and he and his family were grateful for the medical staff’s “superb” help.

He said: “I would like to thank the emergency services for their help, and everyone at Addenbrooke’s – I think they have been superb. He’s stable and getting on very well.”

Mr Deal said his son, a student at Braintree College, had taken his compulsory basic training test for motorcycles, and had been riding his bike for five to six months.

Jenny Hare, from White Horse Avenue, where the accident happened, said her 17-year-old-son died after a motorbike accident last summer.

She claimed the area where Monday’s crash happened was a “blind bend”, and said she felt “awful” for any family whose child had been hurt in an accident.

Anyone with information about the accident should call police on 0300 3334444.
