A FORMER military policewoman is putting on her running shoes for charity.

Alison Rapson, from Dovercourt, will be joining in the 5km Race for Life in Lower Castle Park, Colchester, on Saturday.

Mrs Rapson was a hairdresser before joining the Royal Military Police, which she left in 2000 to start a family. Now the mother of two children, she runs a photography business in Dovercourt.

Running with her mum, Sandra Cardy, and family friend Sue Hanton, the trio have more than £300 pledged for Cancer Research UK.

Mrs Rapson said: “I have kept up my training in the form of walking, jogging and chasing after my two children.

“My mum regularly swims and walks and Sue walks and uses her Wii!

“We are all really excited about completing the course and are pleased with the total we have been promised so far.

“Cancer has affected us all in some way, so we are more than happy to run the Race for Life.”
