COLCHESTER’S new GP-led walk-in centre will open its doors on June 1.

The North Colchester Healthcare Centre will open in the Colchester Primary Care Centre in Turner Road. It is the new home for the walk-in centre in Middleborough, which will close on May 31.

The new centre will be open 7am to 10pm, 365 days a year. It will offer registered patients the opportunity to book GP appointments, as well as providing walk-in services for patients not registered or registered with other doctors.

Dr Paul Zollinger-Read, chief executive of NHS North East Essex, said: “One of the many patient benefits resulting from the new GP-led health centre will be far less need to refer patients on to another health facility.

“It should be stressed this new GP-led health centre is an additional local facility and is in no way intended to replace any existing GP practices.

“We have an expanding population and this new service will help ensure we continue to provide the best possible health services to the people of north east Essex.”
