A DOG was saved from drowning at Dovercourt Bay.
Firefighters from Colchester and Dovercourt and Thames Coastguard were called to help the brown and white Springer Spaniel yesterday at about 4.40pm today.
The female dog, called Rosie, was eventually pulled out of the water by the Harwich inshore lifeboat team.
Keith Churchman, spokesperson for the Harwich RNLI, said: “Our main concern was that people would start jumping in the sea in an attempt to rescue the dog and then we would be left trying to rescue them.
“She was then taken back to her owners on the ramp near to the Cliff Hotel.”
