THE Manningtree Vehicle Show 2009 has been hailed a roaring success. The family event which started out as a small craft and car show has turned into a mammoth day out.

This year the 11th show attracted more than 2,000 people.

The event, at Manningtree High School in Colchester Road, Lawford, featured a wide variety of cars, motorbikes and trucks including vintage cars, army vehicles and quad bikes.

An owl show, bouncy castle, buggy races and a majorette display ensured children were entertained, as vehicle enthusiasts admired and showed off the cars and bikes.

About £6,000 was raised for Manningtree High School.

Organiser Debra King said: “The show started out 11 years ago and it was tiny then, but it has gone from strength to strength and now it is huge, attracting people from all over.

“All the people working on the day were volunteers and no one did anything for money, it was all voluntary.

“So I would like to give a big thank you to every one who came and helped out.”
