Dented – Alan Catten with his vandalised Lotus Esprit
A RARE sports car vandalised during a 24-hour rampage will never be the same again, according to its devastated owners.
Ann and Alan Catten, of Main Road, Dovercourt, discovered their Esprit series 3 Lotus sports car was one of 12 vandalised during a crime spree.
The C-Reg classic car was left unrecognisable after vandals smashed its windows and dented it with a hammer.
The pair are struggling to find replacement parts.
Mrs Catten, 71, bought the car for her husband’s 50th birthday. Mr Catten, now 69, said: “I just don’t understand what is in it for these people. It is just mindless vandalism.”
