A POST office that was closed last year will be reopened and run by the same family.
The Pownall Crescent store, off Mersea Road, was one of five Colchester branches shut by Post Office Ltd as part of a nationwide review.
But now, thanks to Essex County Council, the branch is to reopen in the summer and will be run once again by the Patel family, whose association with the branch dates back 30 years.
The reopening has come about as part of a county council campaign to spend £1.5million on bringing 15 post offices back into service, following the closure of 32 across the county.
Essex is the only council to have reopened post offices.
