DOZENS of bin bags – one containing syringes, spoons and surgical wipes – have been dumped in an alleyway.

The rubbish partially blocked the path between Princes Street and Hamilton Street in Parkeston.

It was discovered by district councillor John Brown and parish councillor Martyn Donn during a routine tour of the village.

The concerned pair say action must be taken and the culprits caught and taken to court if necessary.

Mr Donn said: “We had come to check the rubbish was being put out on the right day, 24 hours before collection, after residents complaints about bags being left in the street.

“We came down here and saw all these bags and the first bag that I moved had a carrier bag inside with all these syringes and drug paraphernalia. There are syringes with needles attached and if a child picked them up and jabbed themselves or someone else in the arm, it could be disastrous.”

Mr Brown added he wanted to see the culprits caught and punished.

He said: “I am absolutely disgusted that people will just leave things like that lying around. It is shocking really and something must be done.”

Nigel Brown, Tendring Council’s communications manager, said the council’s waste contractors, Veolia, would remove the bags and try to find out who left the waste out.
