A HYMN playing jazz band stopped the traffic after the funeral of a much loved councillor.
The sun shone on about 300 people as they filed out of St Andrew’s Church, Halstead, after a service remembering Terry Middleton, 78.
His widow, Doreen, arranged for the Jazz Band to play The Old Rugged Cross, which was one of her husband’s favourites, this afternoon.
She wanted the service to be a celebration of Terry’s life, which was full of happiness.
The Savoy Jazz Band led people from the church up Colchester Road to the cemetary with Revd John Blore who led the service, and Revd Geoff Bayliss who spoke at the graveside.
