Thanks to Sharlene Scott for these pictures of one of the cranes being used to install the wind farm off the Essex coast.

She writes: "I am one of the lucky few who, I consider, has one of the best views from a bedroom window in the Tendring district.

"I overlook the entrance to Brightlingsea Creek, St Oysth point clear & Mersea Island. Friday evening when driving to the back of my house I saw many lights on the Colne River. I decided to take a closer look, as I saw the Wind Farm project make its first real impact on my life in Brightlingsea.

"The large rig which is used on the Wind Farm project off Clacton sea front was setting up base in the Colne River next to the entrance to Brightlingsea Creek.

"This rig, I have been told, is the smaller of 2 rigs used on the project & it will be alternating its rather large parking space between the 2.

"When I first spotted the rig, in all its glory at night, I actually liked its illuminated silhouette on the night sky. When I looked from my bedroom window that night I enjoyed the sight, it was when I woke in the morning I received the fright!

"What by night is lighting up the night sky, by day is an eyesore. I realised just how ugly the rig is & how out of keeping with the view I have treasured for many years from my room.

"I am all for alternative energy sources & I at least have the knowledge that, hopefully, ultimately this is only a temporary parking space for these giant floating beasts.

"Once the project is complete these should move on, but for the people of Clacton, I am well aware, the wind farm is going to be a permanent part of their seafront view!
