NINE teenagers have been selected by 4,500 of their peers to represent Colchester in the Youth Essex Assembly.
The nine names, chosen from 12 candidates, were declared by Colchester mayor Margaret Fairley-Crowe at the Moot Hall yesterday and will join 66 peers from across the county on the assembly, which mirrors Essex County Council.
Those selected, all aged between 13 and 19, are: Emily Zepeda and Zoe Harrington, of St Benedict’s; Jessica Rawlings and Laura Briggs, of Colchester County High School; Liam O’Brien and Arren Haynes of the Sixth Form College; Ricci Mussi of Colchester Institute; Kyle O’Callaghan of Philip Morant; and Emily Ketteridge, of Honywood School in Coggeshall, who lives in Colchester.
