The number of people caught carrying a knife in Essex has fallen in the past six months.
In June Essex Police found 63 people carrying a blade, but this number had fallen to 44 in November.
The force was one of ten named by the Home Office to take part in its £2 million Tackling Knives Action Programme.
The areas were chosen because they account for 70 per cent of knife violence in England and Wales.
Over the past six months, officers in those areas carried out 105,000 searches and seized 2,200 weapons.
The number of serious injuries and deaths fell by 17 per cent.
